A STUDY OF RECENT TRENDS IN MUTUAL FUND INDUSTRY

Abstract


Mutual fund concept, is gaining popularity in developing countries including India as an institutional device to ridge the gap between supply and demand of capital in the market. An understanding of the concept of the mutual fund and its significance in economic development and state of mutual fund in India is, therefore, inescapable. According to latest survey by AMFI on March 2017, India has 4.77 crore mutual funds folios.  We can not quote exact number but still approximately  number of folios under Equity, ELSS and balanced schemes stood 5.80 crore. This paper attempts to study importance of Mutual Fund in building long term capital formation.
