The interest in international quality management practices has been growing for some time. Several studies have focussed on assessment of quality management practices of single or multiple countries. Sarkar (1990) studied the status of quality control in India. He observed that no performance evaluations of quality control operations are done in Indian manufacturing organizations. He suggested that a culture for quality improvement and cost reduction should be infused to all employees across the functional groups and hierarchical levels.
